From June 4 to 6 in Ethiopia, Kong Fanshi, the president led the delegation of our college to visit CCECC-CREC JV Project Office, and held a conference with Chen Mengqiang and Zhou Guoti, the vice general managers and Zhang Huanan, the human resource director and unveiled the nameplate for the Ethiopia branch of our college.
Kong Fanshi and the delegation visited the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway control center, the maintenance center and the passenger departure station – Furi - Lebu Station. Kong Fanshi indicated that our college was actively exploring the effective channel of the Chinese-funded enterprises settling in the foreign country to cultivate the local skill talents, and paid efforts to establish a high-level higher vocational college, which is “inevitable in the local place, required by the industry and exchangeable internationally”. He appreciated the feasible suggestions and comments provided by CCECC-CREC JV Project Office for our college to serve the national strategy and hoped that the parties could carry out extensive cooperation for the cultivation of technology and skill talents, the construction of capacity training system, the formulation of bilingual textbooks and the study of core employees in China, and perform the teaching document construction and management for the branch. Chen Mengqiang introduced the construction, operation and maintenance and capacity construction of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway. He indicated that the “going out” of the Chinese railway not only was reflected in equipment and construction but also caused the “Chinese Standard” to be implemented. He hoped to establish a set of complete employee capacity cultivation system and management system mechanism with our college.
On June 5, the delegation visited the Adama Railway Station in the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway and the employee training center as accompanied by the heads of CCECC-CREC JV Project Office. Kong Fanshi emphasized to visit the relevant teaching facilities and discussed with the working staff of the Chinese and foreign parties in the station. The heads of the parties deeply negotiated with each other for the construction of the local employee training system. After that, the opening ceremony of the “Ethiopia Branch of Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College” was held in the Adama training center of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway. Later, the delegation visited the Addis Ababa light rail control center constructed and operated by China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd.
The Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway is a landmark project between China and Africa from “high-speed railway network, expressway network, regional airline network and industrialization” and capacity cooperation, and jointly constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation and China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. The project has a length of 752.7 kilometer and was constructed by the Chinese equipment as per the Chinese standards as the access to the sea from Ethiopia to Djibouti, Aden. Since October, 2018, our college has assigned 4 excellent teachers to provide technical training service for the project, totally training 20 local electric locomotive drivers and 68 workers for overhead lines.
