On April 21 in Ethiopia, Liu Guanghui, the teacher of the College of Electric Engineering arrived at Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia to provide professional training for the employees of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway.
The visit of our teachers to Ethiopia aimed to train the new 68 employees of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway for the knowledge of the railway electrification technology major and the overhead line technology major. Southwest Jiaotong University led to construct a teacher team to provide the training, which lasted for 1 month. To successfully complete the training task, the school assigned its core teachers to form a project team, developed the pure-English teaching resources in the form of collective lesson preparation and lesson presentation, formulated a teaching content and plan, researched and discussed the teaching methods and finalized the teaching details.
It is reported that the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway connects the capitals of these two countries of Ethiopia and Djibouti as the first electrified railway in East Africa and was constructed by the Chinese enterprises. The training project is an important measure of our college to actively meet the economic globalization need and respond to “the Belt and Road” Initiative. Our college would serve the railway enterprises “going out” by virtue of the brand and major advantages, convey the Chinese standards and programs through vocational training and further increase the international influence of the higher vocational education in our college.
